Foodspeed and the Environment
We are committed to show respect for the environment. As a distributor of dairy products by road we fully recognise our responsibility to protect and enhance the environment in which we operate. To this end, our priorities are to:

  Reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
Minimise use of packaging and maximise recycling/reuse.
Reduce energy and water consumption and waste.
Work with clients and suppliers to encourage high environmental     standards.
Meet all legislative and legal requirements.

Our aim is to achieve a carbon neutral status for our fleet by 2012 and for the entire business by 2014.

In recognition of the significant environmental improverments made by Foodspeed, we have been awarded the EcoVate Green Business Certificate. This has been developed to recognise and encourage businesses that have received support through the ERDF funded EcoVate project and have implemented measures to reduce their environmental impact.

Locally Sourced
Our environmental commitment is reinforced by sourcing local producers where possible. So you can be assured that you are not buying products that have travelled hundreds of miles to reach you. Our principal supply of fresh milk & cream comes from Hampshire, just 70 miles from us, while Tims Dairy Yogurts are produced in Buckinghamshire, only 11 miles away. Sliced bread is delivered fresh daily from the bakery less than 5 miles from us and our mayonnaise is produced in High Wycombe, just 22 miles away.

These are just a few examples of working with local suppliers, which all help in reducing the overall food miles from the farm to your fridge.
